Owners Vs. Carriers

Work Examples

For a power plant with shorted bore copper in the field, Expert Evaluations provided a replacement/shrunk on end rather than an entire new rotor.  The Insurance Carrier's PhD expert challenged our methodology (see photo) but the BI savings were tremendous.

Following Hurricane Katrina, Expert Evaluations helped a large Petro-Chemical Facility in the New Orleans area that was flooded.  A combination of the contaminant in the oil and boiler control issues resulting in carryover caused a thrust bearing failure and turbine wreck.

Following Hurricane Sandy, Expert Evaluations job was was to evaluate (and eventually perform the repairs and restoration) of the warehouse contents of a gas turbine power plant in New Jersey.

Following Hurricane Irene, Expert Evaluations job was to present the claim for a Vermont Electric Utility whose power plant was flooded.

For a paper mill in Maryland, Expert Evaluations provided the fault tree showing that a leak in a generator oil cooler caused a short in the old-style voltage regulator causing the generator field to be shorted.  Subsequently performed repairs.

For a coal burning facility in PA, Expert Evaluations provided the failure analysis of a loose calking strip which caused significant blade damage, resulting in a fully paid claim.

For a major digital governor manufacturer, Expert Evaluations showed the Carrier that the cause of the turbine overspeed was not due to their equipment's performance.

Expert Evaluations has also turbine down "unethical" jobs.  For example owner wanted the Carrier to pay for a complete hydro turbine generator rewind when only minor punching repairs were necessary.
